Revitalize Your Mind and Body with Iced Golden Tea – Nourishing Brain and Heart Health

In winter, all of us look for comfort in our favorite drinks that keep us warm. For me, it’s the tea called golden milk which is like a lifesaver when I had really bad flu. It’s tough being a mom with lots of energy boys and dealing with old age having babies.

In the hot summer days, I realized that my usual winter drink needed a change to make me feel fresh in these slow times. So, the “golden iced tea” stays in my fridge waiting to be the cure I need.

This summer tea is almost like the winter one, but it’s different because we drink it cold instead of hot. It helps us feel better in warm weather. I choose a powerful tea base to use as concentrate and then add bubbly water for extra fizz, but this part is not needed. There are more choices for you when making this tea. You can use fresh roots or powder and I will give you a starting point for both. But I’ll explain why this root mix really excites me.

I’ve always liked turmeric and often talk about how good it is. But we should not forget ginger, because it adds good health benefits and tasty flavor to this mix.

Turmeric, with centuries of use in Ayurveda and Unani medicine in India, is continually supported by ongoing research in Western academic journals, highlighting its numerous health benefits:

  • Cancer-fighting: Turmeric’s curcumin is famous for fighting cancer.
  • Heart-boosting and depression-alleviating: Its anti-inflammatory features help heart health and could lessen signs of depression.
  • Pain relief for arthritis: By making the joints less stiff and swollen.
  • Reducing Alzheimer’s risk: Once more, its strong anti-inflammatory qualities are very important.

Feeling a bit bloated in the summer heat, this turmeric-ginger mix looks like just what I need to fight off little swelling inside me.

Now, let’s talk about the taste – turmeric can be strong and doesn’t really taste nice by itself. But fear not! Adding ginger and honey changes the taste completely. If you don’t like the taste, try adding extra ginger to hide turmeric flavor. Also, ginger is very good for health.

Change the sweetness to taste good for you. Using honey goes well with the taste of turmeric and ginger, but stevia or normal sugar can also be used. Even a whole, unprocessed sugar like sucanat could give an exciting depth.

If the drink tastes bad, it might need a bit more heat. My kids who don’t like to eat enjoy this drink. They have even talked about its importance in a video I shared below.

For those eager to give it a try, here’s a basic recipe for both dried powder and fresh root versions of the tea:

Iced Tea with Turmeric and Ginger made from Dry Powder.
Ingredients
  • Add 14 cups of water.
  • 8 teaspoons each of dry turmeric and ginger.
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4-1/2 cup of honey.
Fresh Root’s Turmeric and Ginger Iced Tea.
Ingredients
  • 6 cups of water and 2 cups of water.
  • Four inches of each fresh turmeric and ginger.
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4-1/2 cup of honey

The preparation process for both dried powder and fresh root versions remains largely similar:

  • Put turmeric, ginger, and pepper into 2 cups of boiling water. Let it cook a bit longer, then leave to soak for one hour or the whole night.
  • Mix honey when warming to melt it.
  • Squeeze out the juice, making a strong mix. Make it lighter or more to your liking by adding 6 cups of water. If you want, add even more water if needed.

One great thing about this cold tea is that my boys love it! That by itself shows a lot about its flavor and attractiveness. They happily drink it without being asked or given treats – a little miracle all by itself.

While this recipe quenches my summer thirst, we’ve got other turmeric-infused recipes waiting for you to explore:

  • The tasty simple flavor changes for golden milk to make it even better.
  • Turmeric tea paste, a take-anywhere choice for when you want tea on the move.
  • A turmeric face mask that has a somewhat frightening picture.
  • Cauliflower cooked with turmeric, which makes delicious taste in one meal.

So, if you want a refreshing drink to cool down in hot weather and get good health benefits too then this turmeric-ginger iced tea might be the answer. Change, try new things and make it yours!
